The innovations will also help to accelerate insights across all organizations with innovations spanning systems design, partner ecosystem collaboration, and expertise including flexible consumption models from HPE Pointnext Services. HPE will be addressing GPU technology integration and Deep Learning expertise challenges through its collaboration with NVIDIA.

The innovations will also help to accelerate insights across all organizations with innovations spanning systems design, partner ecosystem collaboration, and expertise including flexible consumption models from HPE Pointnext Services. HPE will be addressing GPU technology integration and Deep Learning expertise challenges through its collaboration with NVIDIA.
Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, such as Deep Learning, have been gaining attention, both good and bad, in recent months. AI can bring benefits to sectors such as financial services, life sciences, manufacturing, energy, government, and retail. Leveraging the capabilities from HPE’s recent acquisition of SGI, the new innovations will, in HPE’s words, offer greater choice for larger scale, dense GPU environments and addresses key gaps in technology integration and expertise with integrated solutions and services offerings.
As stated, HPE is collaborating with NVIDIA to help accelerate insights that can be gained from stored but untapped data. The two companies are introducing new HPE compute platforms and solutions that will increase deep learning adoption. One of the main systems will be the HPE SGI 8600 combined with NVIDIA Tesla GPU accelerators. Along with NVIDIA, HPE is also working with the software application Kinetica for a solution designed specifically for consumer credit card transaction processing.
The new portfolio of capabilities includes:
- New HPE SGI 8600: Based on the SGI ICE XA architecture, High Performance Computing platform with support for optimal combination of liquid-cooled GPU performance with NVIDIA Tesla GPU accelerators with NVLink interconnect technology to provide scale and efficiency for the most complex, largest environments – up to thousands of nodes with leading power efficiency.
- Interactive Rendering from the Datacenter with the HPE Apollo 6500 and NVIDIA Tesla GPUs certified with NVIDIA VCA software
- Support for NVIDIA’s next generation Tesla GPUs based on its Volta architecture when available in production quantities in the Apollo 2000, Apollo 6500 and Proliant DL380 servers
- HPE and NVIDIA Enhanced Collaboration for Deep Learning
With new AI and Deep Learning technologies, HPE is also offering services to aide customers on this journey. These services include HPE Pointnext that will provide knowledge and expertise through its Advisory, Professional, and Operational Services to help achieve desired business outcomes, including faster time to value. Pointnext will also offer Flexible Capacity (as the name implies, on-demand capacity) as AI and Deep Learning technology may require scalable infrastructure.
