HPE unveils computer built for the era of Big Data. ViON and Kaminario partner to deliver Flash Storage as a Service (FSaaS) to the federal market.

Oracle Enhances Its Block Volume Offering

Oracle has announced enhancements to its popular Block Volume offering to address certain enterprise challenges. They have added NVMe SSDs to increase performance, 25K IOPS/volume, 320MB/s throughput, and sub-millisecond latency. The company has also made the volumes configurable between 50 GB to 2TB in 1 GB increments. Oracle also states that users can scale performance and capacity linearly.

HPE Unveils Computer Built For The Era Of Big Data

HPE unveiled the first prototype of “The Machine” the world’s largest single-memory computer. The Machine will be used as an R & D program, the largest in HPE’s history. The computer delivers Memory-Driven computing for Big Data. Specs include:

  • 160TB of shared memory spread across 40 physical nodes, interconnected using a high-performance fabric protocol
  • An optimized Linux-based OS running on ThunderX2
  • Photonics/Optical communication links, including the new X1 photonics module, are online and operational
  • Software programming tools designed to take advantage of abundant persistent memory

ViON & Kaminario Partner To Deliver Flash Storage as a Service (FSaaS) To The Federal Market

ViON and Kaminario have announced a partnership that will help deliver Flash Storage as a Service to federal markets. The partnership combines Kaminario’s all-flash array, K2, with ViON’s as a Service model. Kaminario is already included on three of ViON’s contract vehicles including: CIO-CS, SEWP Group B SDVOSB and NCPA.
