HP Extends Its Zero Client Portfolio With t310
HP has extended its zero client portfolio with the t310. Features include:
- Impressive new sleek ID with built-in VESA mounting pattern
- Upgraded graphics option with one DisplayPort and one DVI port
- Six USB ports
- Upgraded firmware from 4.8 to 5.5
AIC Supports Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs
AIC Inc. announced that its next-generation high-density storage servers, SB402-VG, and SB201-VG, will be based on Intel’s new Xeon Scalable Processors. AIC is also announcing that its 1U all-NVMe server, SB122A-PV, will also be based on the new CPUs. The new servers will ship at the end of the month with samples available now.
WekaIO Comes Out Of Stealth
WekaIO comes out of stealth with its new cloud-native scalable file system. According to the company, this file system can deliver unprecedented performance to applications and scale to Exabytes of data in a single namespace. By harnessing flash technology, WekaIO creates a high-performance parallel scale out file storage solution for both on-premises servers and public clouds. WekaIO ran some performance benchmark comparing it against IBM Spectrum Scale, seeing the ability to process four times the workloads, and against IBM FlashSystem 900, completing 1,000 simultaneous software builds compared to 240 on IBM’s.
Kaminario Supports Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs
Kaminario announced that its K2 all-flash Gen6 storage controllers will support Intel’s new Xeon Scalable Processors. Benefits include:
- Increased data reduction ratio by 30% with implementation of the DEFLATE compression algorithm that uses a combination of the LZ77 algorithm and Huffman coding with no impact on latency.
- Enhanced level of assured effective capacity as part Kaminario ForeSight business assurance program
- Re-capture CPU cycles to handle more data and customer facing services which results in better overall system performance
Cray Adds Intel Scalable CPUs To Its Supercomputers
Cray Inc. announced that it added the new Intel Xeon Scalable Processors to two of its supercomputer lines, the XC50 and CS. The new CPUs’ increased performance and advancements in reliability and serviceability will add powerful building blocks to the supercomputer lines. The Cray XC50 with the new CPUs is available now and the CS are expected to be available in the third quarter of this year.
Toshiba Produces First 3D Flash Memory With TSV
Toshiba Memory Corporation announced that it has produced the world’s first BiCS Flash 3D memory utilizing Through Silicon Via (TSV) with TLC technology. Toshiba will highlight the new technology at the Flash Memory Summit in Santa Clara, California, United States, from August 7-10.

Cavium Releases FastLinQ 4100 For Dell EMC 14G Servers
Cavium Inc. released new FastLinQ QL41000 Series of 10/25GbE Ethernet NICs supported by the new Dell EMC 14G PowerEdge servers. The adaptors are available now. Benefits include:
- Universal RDMA – Industry’s only network adapter that offers customers a choice of RDMA technology and investment protection with concurrent support for RoCE, RoCEv2 and iWARP.
- Network Virtualization Offloads – Acceleration for network virtualization by offloading protocol processing for VxLAN, NVGRE, GRE and GENEVE, enabling customers to build and scale virtualized networks without impacting network performance.
- Server Virtualization – Optimizes infrastructure costs and increase virtual machine density by leveraging built-in technologies like SR-IOV and NIC Partitioning (NPAR) that deliver acceleration and QoS for workloads and infrastructure traffic.
- Network Function Virtualization (NFV) – Enables telco and NFV application vendors to seamlessly deploy, manage and accelerate the most demanding NFV workloads by delivering leading small packet performance and integration with DPDK and OpenStack.
- Storage Acceleration: Full protocol offload for iSCSI and FCoE delivers up to 3M IOPS while consuming the fewest server CPU cycles, leaving headroom for virtual applications and enabling higher ROI on server investments.
Twistlock Releases Twistlock 2.1
Twistlock, a container security company, has released the latest version of its flagship product, Twistlock 2.1. This new release contains a first, a cloud native app firewall. New capabilities and features include:
- Twistlock collections: For organizations that have different teams working on many different apps sharing the same environments, collections enable the company to centrally create and manage predefined filters in rules and views across the product. Collections provide multi-tenancy and can be created for any arbitrary structures a company would like, such as by project, organizational hierarchy, geography or some combination thereof.
- Compliance alerting and enforcement in Jenkins: Twistlock has long supported the ability to alert on and enforce vulnerability thresholds during the CI process via the native Jenkins plugin. In Twistlock 2.1, this CI integration is expanding to cover image compliance. A company can now use Twistlock to check, alert on, and fail builds based on compliance posture. This capability is all about the ‘shift left’ concept, helping organizations move both security and compliance further upstream in the development process.
- Secrets manager: The new Secrets Manager in Twistlock 2.1 allows customers to integrate their secret management platforms, such as HashiCorp or CyberArk, and securely distribute secrets from those stores into specified containers. Twistlock’s secrets manager is built on the latest work Twistlock is contributing to the open source Docker project, enabling pluggable secrets stored directly in Docker Swarm.
- Vulnerability push alerts: Enhanced capabilities in Twistlock 2.1 allow organizations to create configurable alerts, and automated processes for development teams to get push notifications about new vulnerabilities discovered in the apps they maintain.
