Synology has announced a slate of a new XS/Plus/Value-Series DiskStation NAS solutions, which is comprised of the DS3018xs, Synology’s first 6-bay tower NAS with optional 10GbE and NVMe SSD support; the DS918+, DS718+ and DS218+, which are designed for intensive daily workloads; and the DS418, which features optimized 4K online transcoding capability. Also announced is a brand-new lineup of surveillance products, including NVR1218, an all-in-one, standalone surveillance solution; and the VS960HD, a compact surveillance monitoring and management device.

- DS3018xs: The DS3018xs is powered by an Intel Pentium D1508 dual-core 2.2 GHz (turbo boost up to 2.6 GHz) processor and supports up to 30 drives via two Synology DX1215 expansion units. It comes equipped with up to 32GB of DDR4 ECC SO-DIMM RAM (8GB standard) and four built-in Gigabit network ports, allowing users can leverage the PCIe slot with optional 10GbE NIC for superior networking bandwidth. It also supports the optional M2D17 PCIe M.2 SSD adapter card. Synology quotes the DS3018xs with sequential throughput of up to 2,231MB/s in reads and 878MB/s in writes, while claiming over 265,000 IOPS sequential reads under a RAID 5 configuration, 10GbE environment.
- DS918+: Touted as the successor to the DS916+, the DS918+ features a quad-core CPU that bursts up to 2.3GHz, 4GB DDR3L SO-DIMM (expandable up to 8GB), two 1GbE RJ-45 ports, and two M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD slots for system cache creation. Moreover, Synology claims throughput performance at over 226 MB/s reading and 222MB/s write with Link Aggregation enabled. DS918+ also supports the DX517expansion unit to allow, allowing the NAS to scale up to 9 drives.
- DS718+: The DS718+ is an upgraded DS716+ with a quad-core CPU (which bursts up to 2.3GHz), 2GB DDR3L SO-DIMM (expandable up to 6GB), and two 1GbE RJ-45 ports. In addition, the NAS is quoted to deliver over 226MB/s and 188MB/s in sequential throughput performance for reads and writes, respectively. The also DS718+ supports the DX517 expansion unit to allow drive expansion update to 7 drives.
- DS218+: The DS218+, another successor to an older DiskStation model, features a dual-core CPU that bursts up to 2.5GHz and 2GB DDR3L SO-DIMM (expandable to 6GB). Synology quotes the new NAS with sequential throughput performance over 226MB/s read and 222MB/s write.
All new Plus-series NAS solution comes equipped with AES-NI hardware encryption for superior encrypted data transmission, and hardware transcoding engine, which supports up to two channels of H.265/H.264 4K video transcoding.
- DS418: The DS418 (successor to the DS416) comes with a 64-bit quad-core 1.4GHz processor, 2GB memory, and over 40TB raw capacity. The NAS is also powered by the hardware transcoding engine for 10-bit H.265 4K transcoding support.
- NVR1218: Successor to the NVR216, the NVR1218 is equipped with a dedicated 1080p HDMI port which and displays up to 12 channels of surveillance feeds at 720p/30FPS. It also features a dedicated COM port to support point-of-sale system integration and combines transaction records with surveillance camera footage. In addition, the NVR1218 includes 4 free camera licenses and can be deployed without a computer or Internet connection.
- VS960HD: This palm-sized video decoder is equipped with dual HDMI ports that support both 4K and 1080p resolutions, allowing monitoring up to 96 channels of real-time IP camera streams at 720p/10FPS in a single 4K display monitor. When with a paired Synology NAS or NVR running Surveillance Station, the VS960HD supports features such as such as Live View, Timeline, and Recording List.
