Mellanox Expands SN2000 Line With The Intro Of SN2010 DC Ethernet Switch

by Adam Armstrong

Today Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced the latest addition to its SN2000 line of Data Center Ethernet Switches, the SN2010. The SN2010 was designed with hyperconverged and storage infrastructures in mind. The new space efficient switch has 18 x 10GbE ports and four 100GbE ports. This port configuration makes it accessible for 10GbE-based implementations while also being attractive to organizations looking to migrate from 10GbE server connectivity to higher speed (40/50/100GbE) uplinks.

The new SN2010 comes with all of the benefits shared across the rest of the SN2000 line, including a unique hardware design, high performance ASIC, and very competitive price. The SN2010 only takes up half the space of a standard single 19-inch rack unit. This means users can install two side by side offering server and uplink connectivity with the built-in resiliency of two top-of-rack switches, without taking up valuable rack space.

Its small footprint coupled with its ultra-low latency and zero-packet-loss design make the SN2010 ideal for small hyperconverged infrastructures and entry-level solutions looking to address issues such as collocation deployments to disaster recovery sites.

Availability

The SN2010 system is expected to be available at the end of 2017 and will be offered in three software configurations: MLNX-OS, Cumulus Linux or bare metal/ONIE versions.
