Introducing the new SLA supports Pure Storage’s mission to provide customers with sustainable storage technology.
Pure Storage Evergreen//One
Organizations are under increasing pressure to reduce their carbon footprint and operate in a more sustainable manner, especially in parts of the world where energy costs are rocketing higher. This is where Pure Storage has stepped up to the plate with their new Evergreen//One Energy Efficiency SLA.
The SLA is built on the foundation of two tools: the Pure1 Sustainability Assessment and the Energy Savings Visualizer. Together, these tools allow organizations of any size to measure the maximum number of actual Watts per tebibyte (TiB) of data stored. This provides a clear and precise picture of an organization’s energy efficiency and helps identify areas where improvements can be made.
The Evergreen//One SLA also includes a guarantee that the promised Watts/TiB will be met. If for any reason this guarantee is not met, customers can request service credits, and Pure Storage will execute remediation actions, such as densification or consolidation, at no additional cost. This ensures that organizations are not only able to measure their energy efficiency, but also take action to improve it.
With this SLA, Pure Storage is helping organizations to operate more sustainably and reduce their carbon footprint, while also providing a clear and measurable way to track progress over time.
Sustainability Impact
Substantial energy usage, high costs, short technology refresh cycles, forklift upgrades, unplanned downtime, and overall data storage complexity have long burdened the enterprise storage industry. According to Pure Storage, global enterprises are embracing flexible, consumption-based operating models and modern services that drive stronger value and efficiencies and contribute to the overall reduction of environmental impact over time.
A recent IT Sustainability Impact Survey revealed that 86 percent of sustainability program directors admit they cannot reach their sustainability goals without significantly reducing the technology infrastructure energy usage and implementing a reliable and consistent way of measuring it. Pure Storage Evergreen//One enables customers to achieve new levels of energy efficiency by measuring Watts per TiB to meet long-term sustainability goals.
Introduced in 2015, Pure’s subscription-based Evergreen Storage program delivered its subscription service. In 2018, Pure Storage unveiled a consumption-based model for storage, Pure as-a-service (now Evergreen//One), providing the agility and flexibility of public cloud storage with the security and performance of an all-flash infrastructure.
Today, Evergreen//One allows customers to subscribe to five critical enterprise-grade SLAs, no scheduled downtime for upgrades or maintenance, a 99.9999 percent uptime guarantee, a 25 percent storage capacity buffer relative to usage, storage performance aligned with a service tier, and efficiency measured by Watts per TiB.
