Eaton has launched two innovative products designed to enhance the management and security of power and IT infrastructure. The company’s Tripp Lite series cloud-connected uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and the NetDirector KVM over IP switches offer advanced features tailored to support applications ranging from retail and banking to data centers and distributed IT environments.
Eaton Tripp Lite Series Cloud-connected UPS
The Eaton Tripp Lite series cloud-connected UPS provides reliable battery backup and surge protection for critical systems such as retail point-of-sale (POS) systems, casino gaming machines, and banking ATMs. This UPS stands out for its cloud-enabled remote monitoring, simplifying power management and minimizing the need for on-site visits. Users can utilize Eaton’s Brightlayer remote monitoring dashboard to monitor the status and battery levels of their UPS units in real time using a mobile app or web browser.
Eaton makes the installation of the Eaton Tripp Lite series cloud-connected UPS as straightforward as it can get. A QR code allows easy setup of the monitoring app on mobile devices or desktops. Network settings can be transferred via near-field communication (NFC) from an app-enabled device, and the UPS can connect to a computer through a USB-C port for command line interface (CLI) commands. Status monitoring is simplified with local indications through LEDs and alarms, as well as remote monitoring via a user-friendly dashboard, enabling prompt issue resolution and minimizing downtime.
Designed for convenience, the UPS line has a compact housing with versatile mounting options. Along with LEDs and the power button, all input, output, and communication ports are conveniently placed on one side for easy access and mounting. Its small footprint and multiple attachment points also allow for flexible placement options, including desktop, floor, shelf, beam, or wall mounting. The user-replaceable VRLA battery ensures extended service life, and the UPS automatically restarts after an outage, regardless of battery charge level, reducing the need for site visits. Additionally, the low battery or fault condition alarm only sounds when necessary.
Eaton NetDirector KVM over IP switches
Eaton has also introduced the NetDirector line of KVM over IP switches, which are designed to give data center and IT managers the ability to control and manage connected equipment from any location. These switches come in seven models with various configurations, providing comprehensive and secure remote management capabilities for up to 32 devices from a single 1U rack space.
The NetDirector KVM over IP switches support both remote and on-site control of up to 32 devices by up to four users simultaneously. They also allow cascading to manage up to 256 devices. Some models, such as the B064 console KVM, include integrated folding keyboards, touchpads, and LCD monitors for convenient on-site use. The integrated management software and Java-free web client enhance security with three levels of user access, including BIOS control. The system supports TLS 1.2, various encryption protocols, and multiple authentication methods including SSL, RADIUS, LDAP, LDAPS, and MS Active Directory. The KVM switches comply with FIPS 140-2 level 1 standards using a certified OpenSSL cryptographic module.
Moreover, its 1U rack-mountable form factor saves space and supports revenue-generating equipment. Flash-upgradable firmware ensures compatibility with emerging standards. Some models feature dual redundant C14 power inlets and networking ports for continuous operation. Users can switch between connected devices using the onscreen display, hotkey commands, and integrated push buttons. The switches accommodate up to 32 RJ45 ports for connecting computers and servers. They are also TAA compliant for GSA Schedule purchases, and Eaton’s B055 series of KVM server interface units provide a plug-and-play solution for connecting computers and servers to select B064 KVMs, supporting virtual media and Common Access Cards (CAC).
