Pure Storage announces new features that simplify management, offer flexibility, and mitigate risk.
Pure Storage has unveiled significant updates to its platform, including Real-time Enterprise File, a dynamic file service designed to adapt in real-time to the demands of modern applications. This announcement also highlights a virtual machine (VM) assessment and the introduction of Universal Credits, reinforcing Pure Storage’s leadership in Storage as a Service (STaaS).
The Pure Storage platform enhances agility and mitigates organizational risks through a straightforward and consistent storage framework. It offers subscription-based services across various environments, including on-premises, public cloud, and hosted solutions. The platform’s continuous, non-disruptive upgrades provide a superior as-a-service experience, ensuring it can evolve alongside modern enterprises.
File Services Reimagined: Real-time Enterprise File
In the current business landscape, data-intensive applications require more flexibility than traditional file storage can provide. Legacy systems, with their outdated architectures and complex management protocols, struggle to keep pace with the needs of modern workloads such as AI, analytics, and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). Real-time Enterprise File, delivered through the Pure Storage platform, is specifically designed to overcome these limitations, enabling organizations to respond swiftly to application demands while achieving a lower total cost of ownership.
Real-time agility introduces greater flexibility in file storage management. Unlike legacy systems that confine organizations to pre-configured silos, this innovation allows users to manage data across global storage pools. This approach maximizes storage resources without the complexities of planning or creating reservations for individual arrays. Additionally, through Pure Fusion, fleet-wide operations are automated, facilitating workload placement and rebalancing across the entire Pure Storage ecosystem.
To enhance performance, Pure Storage has implemented Zero-Move Tiering. This feature eliminates the need for physical data relocation when applications require varying performance levels, streamlining IT processes significantly.
Traditional systems often necessitate data movement and extensive pre-planning during upgrades, which can lead to user downtime. In contrast, Pure Storage offers non-disruptive upgrades (NDU) across its platform, allowing for in-place hardware and software upgrades without data migration or loss.
The introduction of the FlashBlade//S100 is a leap forward. It features an AI-ready platform with GPUDirect support and progressive pricing tailored for diverse markets. This solution is designed for entry-level enterprise use cases, including AI, compliance, content sharing, IoT, and edge applications.
The Pure Storage platform also simplifies management operations with cloud-like functionalities. Real-time Enterprise File allows IT teams to easily assign service level agreements (SLAs) and adapt to data growth, automating quality of service (QoS) and multiprotocol configurations.
Enhancing this management simplicity is the AI Copilot for File, a pioneering natural language model that empowers IT professionals to resolve file-related issues efficiently, thereby eliminating bottlenecks.
Expanding Storage as a Service
Pure Storage now offers true storage-as-a-service capabilities for file management through Evergreen//One.
Optimized Virtualization Operations with VM Assessment
As virtualization environments face increasing uncertainty, the Pure Storage platform introduces an industry-first VM Assessment tool. This tool aids IT decision-makers in modernizing virtualization operations for critical workloads by providing performance monitoring, scenario planning, and rightsizing recommendations via Pure1®. Available free of charge with a Pure1 subscription, the VM Assessment enables admins to identify optimization opportunities and gain insights into resource utilization.
Industry-first Universal Credits for Financial Flexibility
In a further enhancement to its STaaS offerings, Pure Storage has introduced Universal Credits, which provide unprecedented financial flexibility. This innovative system allows businesses to purchase a pool of credits applicable across various services, avoiding restrictive subscriptions while ensuring predictable billing. Customers can leverage volume discounts by applying Universal Credits across services like Evergreen//One, Pure Cloud Block Store, and Portworx.
Ajay Singh, Chief Product Officer at Pure Storage, noted that these innovations significantly elevate modern data storage platform standards. He emphasized that Real-time Enterprise File, VM Assessment, and Universal Credits empower customers to confidently navigate today’s complex business environment.
