Broadcom Expands VCF 9 Private Cloud Capabilities with Agility and Security

by Harold Fritts

Broadcom has set its sights on enhancing VCF to create a highly integrated private cloud platform that provides public cloud scalability and agility, along with the security, resilience, and performance of on-premises environments.

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9 was prominently featured at this year’s VMware Explore, underscoring Broadcom’s commitment to advancing private cloud capabilities. VCF 9 is designed to streamline deployment, consumption, and management for secure, cost-effective private clouds, ultimately reducing customer costs and risks.

Broadcom has set its sights on enhancing VCF to create a highly integrated private cloud platform that provides public cloud scalability and agility, along with the security, resilience, and performance of on-premises environments. This platform aims to minimize the total cost of ownership across on-premises, edge, public, and partner clouds, delivering a consistent experience across environments.

The latest VCF release offers a more powerful enterprise-class HCI solution tailored to VMs and containers, optimizing IT infrastructure. As part of this update, Broadcom is expanding vSAN capacity in VMware vSphere Foundation by 2.5 times, reaching up to 250 GiB per core. This expanded capacity allows for more robust scalability within HCI environments, making VCF 9 an ideal choice for enterprise needs.

Customers focused on compute virtualization now have two tailored offerings: VMware vSphere Enterprise Plus and VMware vSphere Standard. Broadcom offers these options directly from Broadcom or through distribution channels, giving customers greater flexibility and choice across the entire VCF portfolio.

Broadcom’s updated per-core subscription model provides adaptable subscription lengths, pricing, and payment options, underlining a commitment to customer-centered flexibility. Based on extensive customer and partner feedback, Broadcom’s approach with VCF 9 highlights its focus on supporting business transformation through a comprehensive, flexible cloud foundation.
