CoolIT Systems CHx1000 is a high-density liquid-to-liquid coolant distribution unit designed for AI and HPC workloads.
CoolIT Systems has introduced the CHx1000, a high-density liquid-to-liquid coolant distribution unit (CDU) designed specifically for demanding AI and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. With a cooling capacity of 1000 kW and a 3°C approach temperature, this system is tailored to meet the cooling needs of cutting-edge processors like NVIDIA Blackwell and future generations of high-thermal-design-power (TDP) chips. As AI applications grow more thermally intensive, the CHx1000 offers a robust solution for ensuring optimal performance and reliability in data centers.
CoolIT Systems CHx1000 Features
The CHx1000 is highlighted by its liquid-to-liquid cooling design, which is capable of delivering a flow rate of up to 1.5 liters per minute per kilowatt (LPM/kW). This efficiency allows it to handle the immense heat loads generated by high-density enterprise direct liquid-cooled (DLC) servers, making it an essential tool for data centers at the forefront of technology. The system is engineered for warm water cooling and is compatible with ASHRAE W+ standards, enabling energy-efficient operation and repurposing waste heat for secondary uses.
Serviceability and reliability are central to the CHx1000’s design as well. The unit fits within a standard single-rack footprint (750mm by 1200mm) and is fully front- and rear-accessible for in-row maintenance. Critical components such as pumps, filters, and sensors are hot-swappable, allowing for maintenance without interrupting operations. The dual N+N pumps deliver a flow rate of up to 1500 liters per minute at 35 psi, with built-in redundancies ensuring consistent cooling even in demanding scenarios. Stainless steel piping, 4-inch Victaulic couplings, and high-grade wetted materials are used throughout, maximizing durability and long-term coolant compatibility.
The CHx1000 integrates intelligent controls for precise temperature, flow, and pressure regulation, essential for the stability of sensitive AI and HPC systems. Operators can interact with the system via a 10-inch touchscreen or remotely through protocols like Redfish, SNMP, TCP/IP, Modbus, and BACnet. Group control for up to 20 units is also supported, simplifying management in expansive data center environments. Additional features include built-in 25-micron filters (with a 50-micron option) and integrated fill pumps and reservoirs, ensuring smooth and efficient operation.
For data center operators seeking a high-performance, reliable cooling solution, the CHx1000 seems to be a big step forward in liquid cooling technology.
