by Harold Fritts

Quantum announced the DXi9200 hybrid data protection appliance. The DXi9200 is a next-generation addition to Quantum’s flagship DXi9000 Series hybrid data protection appliance.

Quantum Corporation has announced the DXi9200, a next-generation addition to its flagship DXi9000 Series hybrid data protection appliances. The DXi9200 is touted to deliver scalable, efficient backup and recovery services for large organizations. With increasing ransomware threats, the DXi9200 addresses the need for comprehensive, proactive data protection strategies that secure data, validate recovery operations, and enable rapid recovery following an attack.

Key Features and Benefits

The DXi9200 has a starting capacity of 110 TB and can scale incrementally in 55 TB blocks to a maximum usable capacity of 2.2 PB, which illustrates the appliance’s scalability. It also delivers advanced data reduction, achieving rates of up to 70x. With support for DXi Cloud Share, the appliance can manage logical capacities of up to 462 PB. This level of capacity ensures organizations remain cyber-resilient as their data volumes grow.

Security-Rich Architecture

Built in alignment with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, the DXi9200 enhances cybersecurity with robust features. It incorporates secure connectivity using encryption, multi-factor authentication, and role-based access control. Offsite data protection is provided through replication, cloud tiering, and Direct-to-Tape capabilities. The appliance also delivers a 30% improvement in ingest and restore performance, enabling continuous validation and faster recovery times.

Backup data integrity is safeguarded with immutable snapshots, health checks, RAID parity protection, and compatibility with leading data protection software, including Veeam, Veritas, and Commvault.

Density and Efficiency

By combining NVMe flash with dense hard disks, the DXi9200 balances performance and cost-efficiency. Compared to previous generations, it achieves 68% higher density (2.2 PB in 12 rack units). It consumes 25% less power, making it a cost-effective choice for organizations looking to enhance cyber resilience without compromising budget.

Availability

The DXi9200 is available immediately and can be purchased outright or through Quantum GO, the company’s flexible pay-as-you-go subscription model. This allows organizations to tailor their investment to their specific needs.

Quantum Corporation’s DXi9200 represents a significant advancement in data protection technology. With its scalable architecture, robust security features, and cost-effective design, the DXi9200 is ideally suited for enterprises seeking to strengthen their cyber resilience and optimize their data protection strategies.
