Advanced Ethernet Solutions

Complementing the Xeon 6 processors, Intel has introduced two new Ethernet product lines – the Intel Ethernet E830 Controllers and Network Adapters and the Intel Ethernet E610 Controllers and Network Adapters. Designed to meet expanding demands in enterprise, telecommunications, cloud, edge, high-performance computing (HPC), and artificial intelligence (AI), these solutions aim to provide robust, high-speed connectivity while improving energy efficiency and security.

Combining Intel’s latest Xeon 6 processors with advanced Ethernet technology, the E830 and E610 product families deliver the performance, scalability, and security crucial for data-intensive applications. The overarching goal is to help businesses accelerate innovation, reduce operational expenses, and gain a competitive advantage in rapidly evolving markets.

Intel views networking as a foundational element for modern business and technology transformations. These new Ethernet solutions are intended to address increasing performance requirements, optimize network infrastructures, lower total cost of ownership (TCO), and help customers keep up with surging connectivity and data demands in AI, virtual RAN (vRAN), and IoT.

Intel Ethernet E830 Family

The Intel Ethernet E830 family is designed for demanding workloads in virtualized environments such as enterprise, cloud, telecom, and edge. Early releases include dual-port 25GbE PCIe and OCP 3.0-compliant adapters, with additional configurations to follow.

Regarding speed, the E830 lineup can support up to 200GbE on the PCIe 5.0 bus, doubling prior generations’ bandwidth and boosting application responsiveness. Flexible port configurations (ranging from 1x200GbE to 8×25/10GbE) let businesses tailor their infrastructure to align with specific performance and cost objectives.

Time synchronization is another key focus, with precision time measurement (PTM), 1588 PTP, SyncE, and GNSS support benefiting the likes of telecom, finance, and AI. Enhanced security features such as Secure Boot, Secure Firmware Upgrade, and dual hardware roots of trust protect against future threats, including post-quantum cryptography (PQC) concerns. Backward compatibility with Intel Ethernet E810 products simplifies upgrades and extends existing investments.

Intel Ethernet E610 Family

The Intel Ethernet E610 family offers manageability, power efficiency, and security features designed primarily for control plane networking. Available in multiple speeds and form factors, the E610 lineup supports 10GBASE-T, 5G, 2.5G, and 1000BASE-T technologies, making it well-suited for data center control planes, workstations, and edge deployments.

Advanced management capabilities include Secure Security Protocol and Data Model (SPDM), Platform Level Data Model (PLDM), and BMC pass-through with NC-SI support. These tools simplify network operations and reduce administrative overhead. The E610 family reportedly consumes up to 50% less power than previous generations, helping organizations reduce costs and environmental impact.

Security remains a high priority, with hardware root of trust enabling secure firmware updates and modern cryptographic compliance with CNSA 1.0. Compatibility with earlier 10GBASE-T adapters allows organizations to transition seamlessly, ensuring that upgrades do not disrupt existing environments.
