CoolIT’s CHx1500 CDU delivers 1500kW cooling with intelligent controls, redefining AI and HPC infrastructure performance standards.

CoolIT Systems has introduced the CHx1500, a new liquid cooling distribution unit (CDU) designed to meet the increasing cooling demands of AI and HPC systems. CoolIT says that the CHx1500 sets a new benchmark for row-based CDU performance, offering 1500 kW of cooling capacity at a 5°C approach temperature difference (ATD) — surpassing the capabilities of similar products on the market by a significant margin.

CoolIT CHx1500 Performance and Capabilities

The CHx1500’s cooling capacity is supported by a flow rate of 2100 liters per minute (LPM) on the primary side and 1800 LPM on the secondary side, ensuring consistent and efficient heat removal. The unit has two hot-swappable pumps (N+N redundancy) capable of delivering 1500 LPM at a 34 psi pressure drop. This redundancy ensures uninterrupted operation, improving overall system reliability even if one pump fails.

Built with all stainless-steel piping and 4-inch Victaulic couplings, the CHx1500 is designed for durability and long-term operation in demanding data center environments. Its single-rack footprint of 750mm wide x 1200mm deep makes it compact enough to fit into existing infrastructure without requiring additional floor space.

The CHx1500 features an integrated control and monitoring system compatible with multiple protocols, including Redfish, SNMP, TCP/IP, Modbus, and BACnet, allowing for flexible and remote management. It also includes a group control feature that enables coordinated operation of up to 20 units, beneficial for scaling in large data center environments.

The unit is equipped with hot-swappable 25-micron filters, with an option for 50-micron filtration, which helps maintain coolant quality and prevent blockages. Integrated fill pumps and a reservoir simplify maintenance and reduce the need for external equipment.

An integrated ultracapacitor ensures the system remains operational during brief power interruptions, with an optional automatic transfer switch (ATS) available to enhance power redundancy further.
