These new NVMe SSDs are built with SK hynix’s 128-Layer NAND flash (what the company states is the first 128-Layer NAND to go into mass production). The drives also leverage HYPERWRITE technology that is said to accelerate sequential write speeds using SLC buffer. With these technologies, SK Hynix claims the drives can hit up to 3.5GB/s sequential read and up to 3.2GB/s sequential write. From an endurance perspective, the Platinum P31 offer up to 1,500 TBW. According to the company, the names “Platinum” and “Gold” represent two different product segments within SK hynix’s series of consumer SSDs, where Platinum indicates flagship models, and Gold the mainstream versions.
