DataTraveler 5000 USB

Hardware USB drive security is currently a hot topic. Let there be no mistaking that the DataTraveler is one of the most secure USB drives available. Many government agencies require that sensitive data must be encrypted with FIPS 140-2. This means that the device itself has tamper-evident construction, which lets users know visually if someone has physically altered their drive. Kingston expects this drive will also earn Level 3 approval soon, which means the drive is tamper-resistant.

Beyond those measures, the drive has a power-on self test to verify the encryption mechanism is working properly. Other security goodies include;

  • Drive locks down after 10 intrusion attempts and encryption key is destroyed
  • Enforced complex password protection
  • Customizable malware protection option
  • Stored data is protected by 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) hardware-based encryption
  • Waterproof and titanium-coated stainless steel casing

The DataTraveler 5000 is available in 2, 4, 8 and 16GB capacities and will cost from $111 to $400 respectively.

DT5000/2GB – $111
DT5000/4GB – $185
DT5000/8GB – $231
DT5000/16GB – $400
