Dell has released a new backup solution for SMBs that is powered by Symantec Backup Exec 2010 which supports data backup and recovery with available deduplication technology. The single server design and included software makes it easy for businesses to back up their data. With a projected install start to finish time of 18 minutes, it’s hard to argue the point.

The single server design and included software makes it easy for businesses to back up their data. With a projected install start to finish time of 18 minutes, it’s hard to argue the point. 

Other highlights include:

  • A disk-based backup solution with true source deduplication that can reduce backup costs by up to 50 percent compared with tape
  • Seamless integration with the Dell EqualLogic and Dell|EMC families of storage arrays and VMware vSphere virtualization solutions
  • Integrates new archive options for Windows file systems and Exchange environments

Availability

The Dell PowerVault DL2100 is available now from Dell starting near $8,600 for the standard model and $11,500 to add deduplication features.
