Adaptec today revealed benchmark results for its MaxIQ SSD Cache Performance software solution. MaxIQ uses licensed SSD control technology from Microsoft and builds upon it. Adaptec demonstrated the device offering a 3.2x performance inrcrease in system I/O versus a similar system without SSD caching.

The device highlights the feasibility of SSD caching in SSD/HDD hybrid arrays. Adaptec used a database application benchmark to get the 3.2x speedup numbers; it simulated a brokerage firm with 50,000 customers generating transactions related to trades, account inquiries, and market research.
The Adaptec MaxIQ SSD Cache Performance Solution creates hybrid arrays pairing 32GB Intel X25-E SSDs with Adaptec’s MaxIQ software and standard hard drives.
