Other World Computing (OWC) today introduced its Data Doubler, an optical bay mounting solution for MacBook and MacBook Pro owners that allows them to add a second hard drive or SSD.

The OWC Data Doubler includes all the required hardware and a detailed step-by-step model-specific installation guide. The device is available for the following computers:

  • MacBook 13" “Late 2008” ‘Unibody’ and later models
  • MacBook 13" “Late 2009” ‘White Unibody’ and later models
  • MacBook Pro 13" "Mid 2009" ‘Unibody’ and later models
  • MacBook Pro 15" "Late 2008” ‘Unibody’ and later models
  • MacBook Pro 17" "Early 2009” ‘Unibody’ and later models

The Data Doubler works with any 2.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD with up to a 9.5mm height.
