Other World Computing (OWC) has announced it has begun developing its Mercury Extreme Pro Enterprise PCI-e SSDs with the new SandForce SF-2000 processor, which was just announced today.
OWC plans to offer 8x and 16x PCI-e SSD cards with up to eight SSDs for capacities up to 3.2TB. Sequential read/write performance is up to 4GB/s and up to 480K IOPS.
The Mercury Extreme Pro Enterprise PCI-e SSDs are designed for use in I/O intensive enterprise servers, storage arrays, and high-end workstations. They also feature non-512-byte sector support thanks to the SandForce SF-2000 processor. The drives also feature an advanced on-board RAID engine which supports levels 0, 5, and 10.
The PCI-e drives use interchangeable modules for future upgradeability.
Pricing and model configurations will be announced in early 2011.
