Samsung Electronics announced it is now mass producing 100GB and 200GB SSDs for enterprise use. The 3.5-inch drives use 40nm single-level cell (SLC) NAND flash chips and a 3Gbps SATA interface.
Samsung claims the drive have 47,000 IOPS for read commands and 29,000 IOPS for random writes. Sequential read and write speeds are 260MB/s and 245MB/s, respectively.
The drives feature an ‘end-to-end data protection’ function to increase reliability.
Samsung’s enterprise SSDs are available in a 2.5-inch form factor (50, 60, 100, 120GB) and 3.5-inch (100, 200GB). EMC will be the first recipient of Samsung’s 3.5-inch 100/200GB drives.
