Marvell has launched its new 88SE9130 6Gb/s SATA controller powered by HyperDuo embedded processor technology. The device can combine a traditional hard disk drive (HDD) and a solid-state drive (SSD) together to provide the best of both worlds: the speed of an SSD and the capacity of an HDD.
Marvell has launched its new 88SE9130 6Gb/s SATA controller powered by HyperDuo embedded processor technology. The device can combine a traditional hard disk drive (HDD) and a solid-state drive (SSD) together to provide the best of both worlds: the speed of an SSD and the capacity of an HDD.
The 88SE9130 uses intelligent algorithms to cache frequently-used folders and files to the SSD, improving everyday system responsiveness. Marvell says the solution can provide up to 80 percent of the performance of an SSD alone.
The 88SE9130 has two modes: Safe Mode and Capacity Mode. Safe Mode mirrors the data to the SSD while Capacity Mode combines the SSD and HDD capacity together. In either configuration, the computer only sees one drive.
