SanDisk Launches New SSD U100 and iSSD i100 For Small Form-Factor Devices

SanDisk launched two new SATA 6Gb/s small form-factor SSDs aptly named the SSD U100 and iSSD i100. Targeted at the tablet and ultra-thin notebook market segment, these SSDs are packaged in multiple sizes including half-slim SATA SSD, mSATA, and mSATA mini.


SanDisk launched two new SATA 6Gb/s small form-factor SSDs aptly named the SSD U100 and iSSD i100. Targeted at the tablet and ultra-thin notebook market segment, these SSDs are packaged in multiple sizes including half-slim SATA SSD, mSATA, and mSATA mini.

The SSD U100 line comes in replacing the P4 modular SSDs, and is available in sizes ranging from 8GB to 256GB. The smaller i100 comes in 8, 16, and 32GB sizes. Speeds on the U100 peak at 450MB/s read and 340MB/s write, while the i100 peak at a 450MB/s read and slower 150MB/s write.

Both drives will be sold directly to OEM partners, with no retail launch mentioned. Availability should be soon with a volume production launch starting in Q3 of 2011.
