The Lacie CloudBox is taking the path not many backup solutions currently offer. With some doubt currently on the market over online backup services being breached, the thought of your files popping up in public spaces might be enough for some people to completely swear off online storage. Lacie hopes to curb some of this by offering AES 128-bit encryption for the transfer itself as well as the storage on their servers. This makes the product not only attractive for home users, but also small businesses who need cost-effective backup solutions.

Lacie aim’s to start shipping the CloudBox this July with a starting price of $199 for the 100GB model. This price includes one year of online-backup service, although the renewable cost has not been listed just yet.
