The question though on storage enthusiasts minds is when will we see the next Momentus XT. The good news is that it won’t be long, Seagate said in their release that the second generation Momentus XT will ship before the end of this year, meaning we should know a good deal about what the Momentus XT 2 looks like in the next month or two. For now we’ll have to be content knowing the hybrid hard drive will "give consumers an even better, faster computing experience."
John Rydning, research director at IDC, sees a very bright future for hybrid hard drives, “Fast, capacious, and economical hybrid HDD and NAND flash storage solutions like the Momentus XT drive will be found in roughly 25 percent of all new PCs shipped in 2015.”
