Tokyo-based parts company Ask Corporation has announced it will release a pair of mSATA SSDs made by OCZ in mid-September. Measuring a mere 30mm wide and 50mm deep, the Nocti and Strata series are both built around 20nm MLC NAND flash memory. Both series support the current mSATA maximum bandwidth of 3 GB/s.
The Nocti series uses the SandForce SF-2141/2181 controller and will have 30, 60 and 120GB capacities available. All sizes have reported sequential read speeds of 255MB/s. The 30GB model has a reported 255MB/s write speed, while the larger models are rated at 260MB/s.
The sibling Strata series will use OCZ’s own Indilinx Barefoot ECO controller. This series, clearly aimed at the budget conscious, will feature 30 and 60GB sizes. The smaller capacity drive has reported sequential read speeds of 125MB/s and write speeds of 40MB/s. The 60GB model has 130MB/s read speeds and 85MB/s write speeds.
Pricing and retail availability has not been announced.
