OCZ largely credited big enterprise demand in August and September for their SSDs as the main driver for their huge increase in SSD sales. OCZ makes several enterprise products like the Z-Drive R4, Deneva line and custom enterprise SSD solutions. OCZ also saw cost reductions thanks to a deal with a NAND supplier to make OCZ branded NAND as seen in the RevoDrive Hybrid, and savings thanks to the Indilinx acquisition starting to add value.
OCZ has also announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the UK Design Team and certain assets from PLX Technology – the move adds to OCZ’s R&D capabilities. PLX’s UK Design Team is expected to add immediate value to controller design which will be poured into the development of PCIe and SATA-based SSDs. OCZ expects the net result to be faster time to market for next generation SSDs and reduced development costs.
