Toshiba announced today that one of its entire lines of enterprise hard disks and solid state drives have been qualified by SuperMicro. Having the SuperMicro name on these Toshiba drives ensures comparability between the devices and keeps the logos matching.

The SuperMicro-stamped drives include the Mkx001GRZB, an enterprise-class 2.5” SSD that comes in 100, 200, and 400 GB flavors, and consumes a scant 6.5 watts. The MBE2147RC is a 2.5” HDD with about 150 GB that runs at an impressive 15,000 RPM. The MBF2600RC/RE series are 2.5” SAS HDDs, which store up to 600GB and deliver data at about 6GB/sec. The Mkx001TRKB and MKx002TSKB series is the 3.5” HDD of the bunch, offering a top capacity of 2TB, 6GB/sec SAS and 3GB/sec SATA interfaces and a bunch of other heavy duty features.

Having this array of drives that will, essentially, be plug and play with SuperMicro boxes should be very helpful for users and profitable for Toshiba. With moves like these, the industry is making scalability problems more and more minor every day.
