LaCie has announced its latest peripheral line featuring Thunderbolt technology during the 2012 Consumers Electronic Show: The 2big Thunderbolt Series, which delivers speed, flexibility and capacity and the eSATA Hub Thunderbolt Series, which allows users to connect external eSATA drives to their new Macs.
The LaCie 2big Thunderbolt Series features RAID security, hot-swappable disks, daisy chain convenience, a solid, aluminum casing, and is three times faster than FireWire 800. The new series will have capacities of up to 8TB with transfer rates reaching 311MB/s. Videographers using in Final Cut Pro X or other related software will be able to stream multiple HD video streams directly from the drive and Photographers using Lightroom or Aperture will benefit from its faster responsive photo library browsing.
The eSATA Hub Thunderbolt Series connects to newer Mac models through the Thunderbolt port and features two eSATA ports. This enables users the ability to connect two eSATA external hard drives to the Hub with full eSATA speeds on their new Mac. In addition, the Hub features a second Thunderbolt port allowing users to connect other Thunderbolt peripherals; up to 12 eSATA drives (6x Dock, 2x eSATA links per Hub) can be connected via a single connection to a Mac with full eSATA 3GB/s speeds.
Both the 2big Thunderbolt Series and eSATA Hub Thunderbolt Series will be available for purchase sometime in the first quarter of 2012.
