Plextor launched the professional version of the PX-M3S SSD at CES 2012. The new version called the PX-M3P or M3 Pro will offer the same NAND and controller configuration as the M3S, with firmware customized for higher performance. Available in 128 and 256GB versions initially, this SSD will offer speeds topping at 540MB/s read and 450MB/s write sequential and upwards of 75,000 IOPS read and 69,000 IOPS write utilizing 24nm Toshiba toggle NAND.

The Plextor M3 Pro will offer the same five-year warranty as the M3S, although the physical design will change to accommodate the smaller 7mm z-height needed by new Ultrabooks and slim-form factor notebooks. The M3 Pro will be available for purchase in February, although initial pricing has not yet been listed.
