StorONE Publishes Storage Pricing

Long touted as being incredibly cost-efficient, StorONE has finally unveiled its pricing model, S1:TRUprice. TRUprice gives users an upfront price while planning out their storage where they can see their TCO. The whole process seems fairly easy with users doing the following:

  • Picking the capacity they need (from 10TB to 15PB)
  • Selecting their specific use case (all-flash, hybrid or all-HDD)
  • Choosing their preferred server hardware

Actifio Announces Best Q1

Actifio announced its best quarter since it hung its shingle. Highlights of this quarter include:

  • Record revenue for a first fiscal quarter in company history and double-digit growth from the year-ago first quarter
  • Balanced geographic performance including several seven-figure deals from some of the hardest-hit Covid-19 regions around the globe (Northern Italy, UK, New York)
  • Strong contribution from strategic partners including IBM, TCS, Dell Technologies, and Google Cloud Platform
  • Clear demonstration that Actifio’s multi-cloud copy data management software is mission-critical, especially during these times of crisis, to help save money through more efficient use of cloud, assist businesses with cyber resiliency, and even accelerate digital initiatives during a time of brick-and-mortar shutdowns
  • General availability of Actifio 10c, announced in December, advancing capabilities around cloud, containers, and copy data

Netlist Adds An M.2 SSD To Its Portfolio

Netlist announced that it has added a new M.2 NVMe SSD to its portfolio, the NS1552 NVMe M.2 SSD. The new drive offers up to 3GB/s speeds and up to 440K IOPS throughput and comes in capacities up to 3.84TB. The new SSDs are available now.

FUJIFILM Announces Object Archive Software

FUJIFILM launched its Object Archive software for tape-based data storage systems. By bringing object storage to tape in the world of long-term retention (think GDPR), FUJIFILM can help reduce TCO. Object Archive software is also compatible with the S3 API.

 CTERA Files Services Available For SimpliVity

CTERA announced that its files services are now available for HPE SimpliVity. CTERA File for HPE SimpliVity is able to integrate quick data access and large scale into HCI. The service offers CTERA’s software-defined SMB/NFS filer and 90-day subscription to a CTERA cloud service that includes elastic cloud scaling and multi-site collaboration.

 Portworx Sees Triple Digit Growth In Q1

Another company seeing a good first quarter is Portworx. Highlights from the quarter include:

  • Customer count reaches 145 with 54 Global 2000 or Government accounts
  • Since launching in April, over 75% of Portworx customers are already running PX-Backup in production
  • Completed 13 deals over $100,000, up from 5 deals in Q1 2019
  • Grew revenue per customer by 400% in 8 months, turning a typical $100,000 initial purchase into $400,000 through additional license purchases and add-on products such as PX-DR and PX-Backup
  • Net retention rate grew by 148%

Samsung Magician Upgraded To 6.1

Samsung SSD software, Magician, has been upgraded to version 6.1. While they didn’t talk much about the new version, it is important to note that older versions of Samsung Magician will lose support on May 30, 2020. Samsung released the following guidelines for updating:

  • Magician versions above 5.1: Users will receive a push notification to download the new version. Please click to install. Alternatively, users can open Magician software, select “Drive Details,” and click “Update” under firmware.
  • Magician versions 5.1 or below: Users will not receive an upgrade push notification and should re-download Magician software with version 6.1.
  • For users not using Magician software yet, visit Samsung.com/magician to download version 6.1.

Seagate FireCuda 120 SATA SSD Released

Seagate announced yet another new addition to its FireCuda gaming drives in the Seagate FireCuda 120 SATA SSD. This SSD comes in capacities ranging from 500GB to 4TB and claims speeds up to 560/540MB/s. The SSD is aimed at speeding up gaming rigs or adding on more flash capacity.
