Whiptail has launched Invicta, a new enterprise-class solid state storage array, as well as Accela, the next generation of Whiptail’s most widely-deployed flash storage array, the XLR8r. Accela and Invicta join Whiptail’s family of NAND flash storage products, providing a pathway from initial provisioning with Accela up to scale out storage systems with Invicta as storage needs grow.
Accela and Invicta are both powered by Whiptail’s Racerunner architecture, providing base functionality across the product line:
- Connectivity: Fibre Channel, FCoE, Infiniband SRP, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS
- Protection: NAND optimized parity RAID, LUN mirroring
- Performance: LUN striping, Snapshots
- Replication: Synchronous and asynchronous
- Compatibility: Citrix and VMware certification
Invicta Scale Out Flash Storage Array
Whiptail’s testing indicates that the new Invicta NAND flash storage array delivers the highest sustained write throughput in the industry. In addition to Racerunner’s support for common network and file protocols, it introduces several enterprise features to the line:
- Up to 72TB of NAND flash capacity
- Sustained bandwidth beyond 6GB/s
- Sustained IOPS beyond 600,000
- Backward compatibility with previous Whiptail systems
- Highly available Silicon Storage Router for host connectivity and data protection
- Supports FC, iSCSI, FCoE, IB SRP and NFS protocols
- Low-latency protected write cache, asynchronous replication, and snapshots
- Management from within VMWare vCenter and support for VAAI
- 1400 watts in 14 rack units, lowering energy use
Accela: Building on the Whiptail XLR8r
Accela is a technology update to the company’s best-selling XLR8r array, featuring RAID protection, hot spares, and asynchronous replication. It also offers protected write buffers and VMWare vCenter management, including a complete implementation of native VAAI. Accela is Invicta-ready, meaning that Whiptail customers can merge Accela storage into Invicta modular scale out arrays, protecting investments and easing growth.
Availability
Invicta and Accela are available now through Whiptail and its network of worldwide partners.
