StorONE has announced the All-Flash Array.next (AFAn), which uses Intel Optane SSD as a storage tier, delivering solutions for enterprise storage. The SSD technology, which is used as a storage tier, not as a cache, integrates Intel QLC 3D NAND SSDs for cost-effective, high capacity, moving data between the two storage tiers as it ages. StorONE states that S1:AFAn is the highest-performing, most cost-effective storage system on the market today.
The All-Flash Array.next combines Intel Optane’s performance with the capacity and cost-effectiveness of QLC flash drives. This solution is built with an Intel-branded server, using Intel Optane and Intel QLC media, and is powered by StorONE’s S1 Enterprise Storage Platform software. The company says that this combination delivers over one million read IOPS, and over 1 million write IOPS.
This StorONE solution automatically tiers data from the Intel Optane SSD tier to an Intel QLC 3D NAND SSD storage tier thanks to its S1 software. Intel Optane SSD is used as a tier of storage and not a cache. StorONE’s DirectWrite Technology stores data directly on storage media eliminating complexity from the storage architecture. This technology also ensures that applications are only getting a write acknowledgment when its data is safe on permanent media. With this characteristic, enterprise customers can enjoy the full write performance of Intel Optane SSDs and its excellent read performance.
The All-Flash Array.next is a new class of storage solutions that are a logical upgrade to the aging AFA. The AFAn supports workloads like VMware, Hyper-V, Oracle, and MS-SQL while also providing the extreme performance required of applications such as analytics and artificial intelligence. The result is a better storage consolidation affordable to every data center.
