Buffalo Announces TeraStation 5000 and 7000 Network Storage Devices

Buffalo Technology has announced the new TeraStation 5000 series of business-class storage servers and a new enterprise-class TeraStation 7000 series. The 5000 series will launch with the two-drive TeraStation 5200 and the four-drive TeraStation 5400, both offering iSCSI, replication and failover support and SoleraTec Phoenix RSM, a video surveillance asset management solution. The 7000 series will launch with the TeraStation 7120r TS-2RZSD and TeraStation 7120r Enterprise, both 12-bay 2U rack mountable NAS and iSCSI servers.


Buffalo Technology has announced the new TeraStation 5000 series of business-class storage servers and a new enterprise-class TeraStation 7000 series. The 5000 series will launch with the two-drive TeraStation 5200 and the four-drive TeraStation 5400, both offering iSCSI, replication and failover support and SoleraTec Phoenix RSM, a video surveillance asset management solution. The 7000 series will launch with the TeraStation 7120r TS-2RZSD and TeraStation 7120r Enterprise, both 12-bay 2U rack mountable NAS and iSCSI servers.

TeraStation 5000 Overview
The TeraStation 5000 series is a business-class NAS and iSCSI storage platform powered by a dual-core 1.86 GHz processor and 2 GB DDR3 RAM. The 5000 series supports Active Directory, disk quotas, share level replication, failover, dual gigabit Ethernet ports, hot-swap hard drives, iSCSI targeting, and USB 3.0 accessories. The 5000 series also offers the SoleraTec Phoenix RSM video surveillance asset management solution, supporting up to 20 Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) surveillance cameras to capture, manage and store video feeds, and enable playback of live and stored video. One camera license is included with the TeraStation 5000 with additional licenses available for purchase.

The TeraStation 5400 TS5400D ships with four pre-populated drive bays supporting capacities up to 12 TB and offers RAID 0/1/5/6/10 and JBOD functionality. For offices that have lower capacity requirements, the TeraStation 5200 TS5200D features two pre-populated drive bays with capacities up to 6 TB and support for RAID 0/1/JBOD.

TeraStation 7000 Overview
The TeraStation 7000 series offers 12-bay 2U rack mountable NAS and iSCSI storage servers with Intel Xeon quad core processors and upgradeable DDR3 RAM. The 7000 series features support for RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/51/60/61, and PCI-Express card support for approved PCI-Express devices.

The TeraStation 7120r Enterprise TS-2RZHD offers 24 TB of storage and features an Intel Xeon E3-1275 quad core processor, 8 GB of DDR3 RAM and 12-2 TB enterprise-class hard drives. The 7120r Enterprise includes quad gigabit Ethernet ports supporting link aggregation up to 4 Gbps, hot-swappable hard drives, and iSCSI targeting.

The TeraStation 7120r TS-2RZSD ships partially-populated with four standard SATA hard drives and features the Intel Xeon E3-1225 quad core processor and 4 GB of upgradeable DDR3 RAM. The 7120r TS-2RZSD offers eight expansion bays.

Availability
The TeraStation 5200 will be available in June at an estimated street price of $549.99 for the 2 TB (TS5200D0202), $699.99 for the 4 TB (TS5200D0402) and $849.99 for the 6 TB (TS5200D0602). TeraStation 5400 will be available in June at an estimated street price of $879.99 for the 4 TB (TS5400D0404), $1,199.99 for the 8 TB (TS5400D0804) and $1,699.99 for the 12 TB (TS5400D1204).

TeraStation 7000 systems will also be available in June 2012 through CDW and registered VAR partners. The TeraStation 7120r Enterprise will be available at an estimated street price of $8,999.99 for the 24 TB (TS-2RZH24T12D). The TeraStation 7120r TS-2RZSD will be available at an estimated street price of $4,999.99 for the 8 TB (TS-2RZS08T04D) and $5,999.99 for the 12 TB (TS-2RZS12T04D).
