Today, Lenovo announced a new and updated line of ThinkPad and ThinkBooks, as well as their Lenovo Device Intelligence (LDI) Service, which is an AI-based Software as a Service (SaaS) to monitor the health of a company’s fleet of PCs, help to diagnose issues, and assist in predicting and preventing potential hardware and system failures before they occur. Among the devices announced today include the all-new ThinkPad X1 Fold, the first foldable PC which is available for pre-order now, and an updated line of ThinkBooks.
Today, Lenovo announced a new and updated line of ThinkPad and ThinkBooks, as well as their Lenovo Device Intelligence (LDI) Service, which is an AI-based Software as a Service (SaaS) to monitor the health of a company’s fleet of PCs, help to diagnose issues, and assist in predicting and preventing potential hardware and system failures before they occur. Among the devices announced today include the all-new ThinkPad X1 Fold, the first foldable PC which is available for pre-order now, and an updated line of ThinkBooks.
Let’s start with the biggest product coming out of this announcement, which is the ThinkPad X1 Fold. It’s the first foldable, single-screen device available from a major manufacturer. This device is essentially a 13.3” tablet-style device (there’s no integrated keyboard) that can be folded in half to have two 9.6” screens, with an on-screen keyboard on one half, and your content on the other, or any partial iteration of your choice. Portability and connectivity are also at the forefront of this device, with WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 standard, and optional 5G (sub 6GHz) and 4G LTE support via its SIM card slot, as well as 11th gen Intel processor support and a 50Whr battery for a claimed 11 hours of time away from the wall. It’s available now for pre-order for $2499, with optional accessories such as the Bluetooth Mini Fold Keyboard, Lenovo Mod Pen, and Easel Stand.
The other ThinkPad X1 coming out of Lenovo today is the Nano variant, which is the latest addition to their lineup. It’s the lightest ThinkPad ever at under 2lbs and is based on Intel’s new Evo platform and 11th Gen processors. X1 Nano can be preloaded with Windows 10 Pro or Ubuntu Linux and features optional 5G for future-ready connectivity. The 13-inch Dolby Vision 2K display with a 16:10 aspect ratio offers 100% sRGB and touch display options are also available.The speaker system includes four speakers with Dolby Atmos support for great sound and combined with four 360-degree microphones ensure you are loud and clear during audio and video calls. ThinkPad X1 Nano is expected to be available in 4th quarter 2020. Prices are expected to start from $1,399.
Let’s take a look at Lenovo’s largest expansion of the ThinkBook portfolio to date. Spanning no less than six new models, the new generation of ThinkBook laptops blend a modern design philosophy with features built for a “work-from-anywhere” world. These laptops sport a new, updated look with a dual-tone top cover and narrow display bezels built for a clean modern look. ThinkBook 15 Gen 2 i delivers outstanding speed and productivity with 11th Gen.
Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics, Thunderbolt 4 and flexible storage options. In a first for laptops, the ThinkBook 15 Gen 2 i is available with optional integrated wireless earbuds for instant collaboration. ThinkBook 13s Gen 2 i with optional 16:10, 2560×1600 display delivers an uncompromised mobile performance with Intel Evo platform in a lightweight package that can be carried from room to room, or office to office. The ThinkBook 14s Yoga brings the flexibility (get it?) of the Lenovo Yoga to the ThinkBook line, with its 2-in-1 display.
In addition to Intel’s 11th gen Tiger Lake processors found in these devices, it’s also great to see Thunderbolt 4 making its way into consumers’ hands. It’s also great to see the AMD Ryzen 4000 series mobile CPUs being offered, giving customers a choice of team red or team blue. Here’s the overall look at the product line:

The final part of this announcement is Lenovo’s new SaaS tool, Lenovo Device Intelligence or LDI. Developed for IT administrators that manage fleets of employee PCs, this tool monitors the health and performance of PCs, even non-Lenovo branded ones. Leveraging AI and machine learning for proactive device insights and predictive analytics, it also offers IT admins remediations to help swiftly resolve issues and keep their employees up and running. Lenovo Device Intelligence will be initially available starting October 2020 in the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Japan and Australia, with a phased expansion to other global markets through 2021.
