CA Technologies has announced enhancements to its ARCserve solutions to better extend data protection across IT environments with both virtual and physical systems, including systems on-premise, off premise, or in the cloud. ARCserve offers backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities via integrated solutions with a new licensing scheme.

The updated ARCserve features non-disruptive bare metal recovery for system recovery and re-synchronization of servers after they are repaired or replaced, while the replica (temporary) server remains active. The CA ARCserve high availability solution can redirect workloads and users to virtual or dissimilar physical machines that are local, remote, or in the cloud.

ARCserve now features support for Fujitsu Global Cloud in addition to existing support for Amazon, Windows Azure, and Eucalyptus. New integration with CA Nimsoft complements support for other management solutions such as Level Platforms, LabTech and N-able, and new CA Nimsoft Monitor Probes deliver alerts for backup, replication, and high availability through the CA Nimsoft Unified Monitoring console.

CA Technologies has simplified ARCserve licensing and pricing, for example the option to license either a recovery point-focused solution with backup functionality and file replication or an all-inclusive recovery point/recovery time-focused solution with backup functionality, file and system replication, and high availability to meet continuity requirements. Both options are now available as Managed Capacity (per terabyte) licenses as well as per-socket licenses for virtual server environments.

Availability

CA ARCserve is available under traditional, perpetual software licensing, through a monthly or annual subscription, or as a turnkey Software-as-a-Service offering with bundled and integrated cloud storage.
