LaCie has announced the 5big NAS Pro, a high-performance 5-bay small business NAS powered by a dual-core 2.13GHz Intel 64-bit Atom processor and 4GB RAM. The 5big NAS Pro features dual LAN connections with link aggregation for network transfer speeds up to 200MB/s, and is available diskless, or in 10TB and 20TB capacities.

The 5big NAS Pro features dual LAN connections with link aggregation for network transfer speeds up to 200MB/s, and is available diskless, or in 10TB and 20TB capacities.
The 5big NAS Pro lies at the high performance end of LaCie’s small business offerings, designed to support key business storage functionality in one package including file sharing, remote access, and backups. The LaCie 5big NAS Pro integrates user interfaces for managing network/cloud storage and remote access into one view, and ships with the SimplyRAID configuration utility. In addition to manually specifying RAID modes (5, 5+spare, 1, or 0), SimplyRAID can automatically balance between the fastest performance and most secure RAID mode according to the number of installed disks.
The 5big NAS Pro ships with version 3 of LaCie’s NAS OS operating system, which supports synchronizing data stored internally with Wuala, LaCie’s cloud storage platform. Data stored on Wuala is encrypted on the client side, before being sent to the cloud. The LaCie offers 5big NAS Pro customers a 100GB, three month trial of Wuala Business Secure Cloud Storage.

The LaCie 5big NAS Pro will be available this quarter in 0TB, 10TB and 20TB capacities through the LaCie Online Store and resellers, starting at $549.00.
