Quantum Releases Reference Architecture For Surveillance
Quantum announced the release of a new reference architecture for large-scale surveillance workloads. The reference architecture combines enhanced hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) software for Quantum’s VS1110-A application servers and a unique configuration of StorNext shared file storage optimized for video surveillance. This new solution adds to the large portfolio of surveillance products offered by Quantum.
Qumulo Integrates With Commvault
Qumulo announced full integration with Commvault with new capabilities around increasing data protection as well as accelerating file data management productivity. The Qumulo Protect data services within Commvault Backup & Recovery enable customers to:
- Manage file data changes in real-time via REST APIs to know in real-time which files within their file data sets have changed
- Allow backup jobs to begin in mere minutes instead of hours, up to 28 times faster than previously possible.
- Eliminate slow ‘tree-walks’ to identify file changes, often resulting in insufficient time to efficiently back up and protect data files and putting entire file data sets at risk.
AWS Announces One Zone Storage
This week AWS announced a new storage class for EFS, One Zone storage that is said to reduce costs by 47% with the same features and benefits. It is said to work by redundantly storing data within a single Availability Zone (AZ) and is ideal for customers who want cost-optimized file storage options for workloads and applications that do not require the level of availability and durability offered by regional Amazon EFS storage classes that redundantly store data across multiple geographically separated AZs. There is no minimum commitments and it is available now.
WekaIO Awarded 3 New Patents
WekaIO announced that is has been awarded three new patents with 34 more pending. The new patents include (10,929,021) for “Quality of service management in a distributed storage system,” (10,936,405) “Efficient networking for a distributed storage system,” and (10,942,807) “Storage system spanning multiple failure domains.”
Virtium Releases StorFly Series 6 SSDs
Virtium announced its new StorFly Series M.2 NVMe SSDs. The new drive series comes in capacities from 240GB to 1.92TB. The drives also feature the integrated vtGuard power-fail protection protecting data in the event of a power loss.
CTERA Launches Remote Work Suite
CTERA announced its new remote work suite for its global file system featuring a small form factor edge filer and a new lightweight file access agent. The CTERA remote work suite features the CTERA Edge HC100, a desktop-sized edge filer with 1TB of high-speed NVMe cache delivering fast network storage access for small workgroups, and this little device looks very similar to the Lenovo Nano. The company states that the HC100 can be combined with the CTERA Drive Connect agent for Windows and MacOS.
Excelero Achieves Red Hat OpenShift Operator Certification
Excelero announced that is has achieved Red Hat OpenShift Operator Certification for its NVMesh software-designed storage. The certification enables storage architects can integrate high-performance, low-latency NVMe storage into the native Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenShift environments with Excelero NVMesh.
