Micron has announced the availability of the new P400m SSD, Micron’s first 25nm MLC NAND SSD to implement the company’s Extended Performance and Enhanced Reliability Technology (XPERT) technology, which improves SSD performance and longevity. Offered in 100, 200, and 400GB capacities, the P400m is manufactured and tested entirely by Micron and is rated for ten drive fills per day for five years.

The Micron P400m SSD is designed for high-volume caching and storage data center applications such as real-time databases, virtual machine image storage, virtual memory, array-level write cache, storage appliances, and video on demand. Keeping the development of the P400m entirely at Micron means that the company’s NAND and SSD engineers can maintain close collaboration from the initial design phase through quality control and customer support, offering Micron an advantage throughout the P400m’s lifecycle over firms which must partner to develop a new drive.
Availability
Micron P400m SSDs are now available directly to OEMs and through Micron’s distribution network.
