HP today announced the expansion of their big data portfolio with one of the additions being HP HAVEn. Overall, these additions provide organizations with improved data insight and a view of real-time outcomes as HP commissioned research shows that more than a third of organizations have failed with a big data initiative. HP’s expanded portfolio provides the tools for these organizations to be more successful. In part, that’s where HP HAVEn comes in. HAVEn is a big data analytics platform that utilizes HP’s analytics software, hardware and services to create big data-ready analytics applications and solutions.
HAVEn rolls together technology from HP Autonomy, HP Vertica, HP ArcSight and HP Operations Management, along with initiatives such as Hadoop. The open architecture enables organizations to avoid worrying about vendor lock-in. Support for several virtualization technologies protects investments.
The first integrated big data analytics solution built on HAVEn is HP Operations Analytics, which delivers insight into IT operations enabling organizations to maintain quality service. Operations Analytics allows organizations to efficiently consume, manage and analyze massive streams of IT operational data from, amongst others, HP ArcSight Logger and the HP Business Service Management portfolio, as well as third-party sources.
HP Enterprise Services is also rolling out HP Actionable Analytics Services which helps clients improve customer engagement and move with more agility to meet changing markets. The service helps clients to extract insights and streamline processes such as customer offers, procurement, supply chain and inventory operations.
HP Technology Services has also expanded its Big Data Consulting Practice for better IT infrastructure performance and support for big data demand. New products include IT Strategy and Architecture, System Infrastructure, and Protection services. These services are designed to ensure that organizations both meet compliance standards and their goals.
HP is announcing two other products. The HP Vertica Community Edition delivers the same functionality as the HP Vertica Analytics Platform Enterprise Edition, but is limited to 1TB of data. It is free though, and it enables organizations to try the product before investing financially. Also new, HP Autonomy Legacy Data Cleanup helps to analyze legacy data, lower costs and reduce risks related to big data. The tool helps organizations to clean-up unnecessary data, classify and organize, and retain data that is still relevant and necessary.
