PernixData FVP Flash Hypervisor for SMB Announced

by storagereview

PernixData FVP is announcing a SMB version of a Flash Hypervisor which follows its recent announcement of the Enterprise version of the industry’s first Flash Hypervisor. The SMB version of PernixData FVP supports up to 4 hosts where flash storage is virtualized into a clustered acceleration tier enabling a quick, cost-efficient way to scale out storage performance independent of storage capacity for SMB environments. Using a very simple point and click install process, PernixData FVP can be set up and operating in less than 20 minutes and allows IT administrators to aggregate server side flash into clusters that are available across multiple virtual machines (VMs). No changes or reboots are required for the existing server and storage infrastructure.

With Flash Cluster, PernixData FVP allows any host to access the flash devices on any other host in the cluster. It also seamlessly supports all VMware operations and products such as vMotion, DRS, HA, Snapshot, VDP, Site Recovery Manager, Horizon View, and vCloud Director. This server-side solution is the only product to support full read and write (write through/write back) acceleration across all virtual applications, and writes are replicated across all clustered hosts to ensure fault tolerance.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the PernixData FVP SMB edition includes licenses for up to 4 hosts, each with up to 2 processors and 1 flash device, and is $9,999, with up to 100 VMs across the cluster.
