LinkStation 420 Network Video Recorder
The new LinkStation 420 Network Video Recorder (NVR) with embedded support for AXIS Camera Companion provides simple integration of high-performance NAS devices with Axis surveillance cameras and video management software. Buffalo's LinkStation 420 NVR is designed for home and SMB surveillance solutions with up to eight cameras and provides a feature rich, highly reliable, and long retention video surveillance network with easy deployment and management.
The partnership between Buffalo and Axis is aimed to provide consumers and businesses with versatile IP surveillance networks that can be set up with ease and maintained over long periods of time. The LinkStation 420 NVR surveillance solution is optimized to deliver video surveillance functionality and includes the following features:
- Supports up to eight HD Axis cameras
- Provides redundant dual drive NVR technology, eliminating downtime during HDD failures
- Equipped with two specially designed NAS Edition hard drives designed for 24x7x365 recording, providing increased reliability and longevity
- Allows months of continuous 24×7 recordings of up to eight HD cameras
- Pre-configured for easy installation within minutes
- Three-year warranty and 24/7/365 U.S.-based technical support for life with a dedicated toll-free line for surveillance products
Unlike traditional IP camera networks, Axis cameras can be configured to record directly to NAS devices without any Video Management Software running on the NAS, which significantly simplifies the process and reduces the overall cost.
The AXIS Camera Companion software makes camera configuration easy to record to a NAS or PC Server and can also be used for live viewing and accessing recorded content. The One-Click feature simplifies deployment of a camera network, allowing specially designed Buffalo and Axis products to seamlessly communicate with each other. Additionally, the AXIS Camera Companion determines the number of cameras on the network and enables users to select which cameras they want manage. When selected, AXIS Camera Companion communicates with the NAS and automatically sets up quotas, users and shares. It then automatically configures the cameras to connect to the NAS so that users never have to log into the NAS device or the cameras.
