Plextor has announced the M6 and M6e series lineup of solid-state drives, featuring their next-generation 2.5” M6S and M6M mSATA SSDs. Also introduced by Plextor is two new PCI-e drives: the M6e PCI-e SSD specifically designed for gaming, the ultra-fast M6e M.2 PCI-e and the new half height, half length (HHHL) PCI-e card.
In addition to the new M.2 form factor, the M6 also features the latest generation of advanced 19nm Toggle NAND flash from Toshiba with “Adaptive Write." This is Plextor’s next-generation proprietary firmware technology, which is designed to maintain SSD performance under heavy workloads throughout the life warranty of the drive. As a result, this allows for increased storage density with capacities up to 512GB.
The M6e M.2 PCI-e and HHHL PCI-e Card solution is optimized for serious users who are in need of the fastest speeds available on today's market. The M6e is equipped with the latest generation Marvell 88SS9183 flash controller with multiple cores for efficient performance during intense usage. Additionally, the M6e’s PCI express interface delivers maximum sequential read and write speeds of up to 770MB/s and 625MB/s respectively as well as random speeds of up to 105,000 read and 100,000 IOPS write. The M6e is also automatically recognized as an advanced host controller interface device, requiring no additional drivers. When it is used as a boot disk on a system with unified extensible firmware interface, startup times are cut in half. The M6e comes in capacities up to 512GB.
The entire M6e series is backed by a five-year warranty.
The M6S is a high-performance 2.5-inch SATA SSD hard drive, which features faster boot times, shorter application load times, and overall improved system performance. The M6S is available in capacities up to 512GB with sequential read/write speeds of up to 520MB/440MB per second and random read/write speeds up to 94,000 and 80,000 IOPS, respectively.
The M6M mSATA drive is designed for users looking to upgrade any device that requires a SSD with a small footprint. It features up to 512GB of storage and sequential read/write speeds up to 520MB/440MB per second as well as random read/write speeds up to 94,000 and 80,000 IOPS, respectively.
The M6 series will be available for purchase sometime in the spring of 2014. All Plextor products feature exclusive custom in-house design and development by Plextor hardware and firmware engineers.
Plextor's gaming M6e PCI-e is the first SSD specifically designed to meet the demanding needs of the gaming community. The M6e PCI-e SSD uses a new generation of high-bandwidth components to deliver smooth, uninterrupted gameplay, which is a much desired feature for serious and casual gamers alike. It combines the convenience of driver-free ACHI support with the compatibility of selectable legacy BIOS or fast UEFI boot.
Plextor gaming SSD delivers maximum sequential read and write speeds of 770MB/s and 625MB/s respectively as well as random read and write speeds of 105K and 100K IOPS. Its PCI-e Gen2x2 interface bypasses the SATAIII bottleneck, includes the latest server-grade multicore Marvell 88SS9183 controller with native PCI 2.0 support, and is equipped with a pre-graded high performance Toshiba Toggle NAND flash.
Developed by Plextor’s in-house team, the M6e’s exclusive firmware optimizes the drive for gaming applications and ensures stability. Additionally, Plextor’s True Speed technology provides a new improved version for long-term performance stability and effective multi-tasking.
The M6e also comes with Advanced Host Controller Interface (ACHI) support, allowing users to experience the speed of a high-performance PCIe SSD without the need to load propriety drivers. Compatibility with legacy BIOSes gives M6e the ability to be used with existing gaming rigs, increasing its flexibility. In addition, alternatively selecting the UEFI boot mode for motherboards with UEFI allows for speedy start-up times.
Zero-Failure Zero-Error mass testing standard resulted in a MTBF calculated at 2.4 million hours. Every individual SSD also faced an extended high-temperature burn-in test and usage simulation.
The Plextor M6e PCIe SSD is now available in capacities of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB with a full five-year warranty and Plextor’s extensive support structure.
