HGST has announced it is expanding its line of external storage and backup solutions with a new family of Touro S mobile external hard drives, boasting 7,200 RPM and up to 23 percent faster than standard 5,400 RPM-based drives. The new Touro S line is available in metallic finishes including gold, silver, ruby and platinum and offers two levels of data protection – local backup and cloud storage – to help protect, transport, store and access photos, music, videos and documents wherever the user may be. HGST Touro S mobile external hard drives are also Mac and PC compatible.

On top of receiving up to 1TB of local storage, every customer receives 3GB of Touro Cloud Backup (at no cost), allowing users to access and share their files from any web browser, tablet, or smartphone. When using the cloud service, all content is stored in its original format, so files are easy to view, download, and share from any web browser. Users can also share online content with others by sending a simple web link. For increased cloud storage capacity, customers can purchase 250GB for $59 per year, which includes multiple computer protection as well as the Apple iPhone and iPad apps for free.
In addition, the Touro S local backup software quickly and automatically backs up files from a computer directly to the drive every 30 minutes. Flexible settings give users the ability to customize their scheduled backups on a time or day that’s convenient for them.
Pricing and Availability
The 1TB Touro S drive has an MSRP of $99.95 while the 500GB Touro S drive retails for $79.95. Both models are backed by a two-year limited warranty and are available now.
