QNAP Systems has announced at a partnership with Seagate Technology at CeBIT 2014 to demonstrate a new series of Turbo NAS and storage expansion solutions with its new QTS 4.1 NAS operating system, VioStor NVR firmware QVR 5.0, and more.
QTS 4.1 is a Turbo NAS operating system that provides an easy-to-use interface, greatly simplifying operation and management tasks as well as featuring a variety of apps to enhance home and business use. QTS 4.1 offers home users applications such as Music Station, Photo Station, and Video Station and applications for business users including comprehensive solutions for storage, backup, and virtualization.
QTS 4.1 comes with a plethora of new features including: Notes Station, Signage Station, SAMBA v4 support, Real-Time Remote Replication (allows 2-way data sync between two Turbo NAS units and supports FTP root-path), enhanced NetBak Replicator backup for Windows, vSphere Plug-in v1.3, and McAfee Antivirus. The new Virtualization Station enhances virtualization tasks, which enables a Turbo NAS to be a virtualization server that can host multiple VMs and applications.
QNAP also announced its top-in-class business Turbo NAS, the TS-ECx80U series, which is available in 8, 12, 16, and 24-bay models and delivers over 4,000MB/s throughput and over 580,000 IOPS. Its medium-class announced Turbo NAS, the TS-470U-RP, supports 4 LAN ports to provide up to 400MB/s read and write performance.
QNAP also demonstrated its cloud backup options with Windows Azure, Amazon Glacier, enhanced Amazon S3 support, and WebDAV-supported cloud storage.
New VioStor NVR firmware: QVR 5.0
QVR 5.0 is their new VioStor NVR firmware, which introduces an intelligent desktop with multi-window design, simplified user interface, and new features such as a floating tool bar, speed control shuttle bar, and video thumbnails. Additionally, the VMobile and Vcam mobile apps enhance surveillance management while on the go.
QSCM Lite, which is available in the QVR 5.0 App Center, is a free app that gives VioStor NVRs the ability to function as a Central Management System (CMS). With it, security administrators will enjoy a turnkey CMS solution and have multi-server management with a VioStor NVR without the need of purchasing a dedicated CMS server.
QNAP also displayed their partnership with Axis Communications. Users can easily build comprehensive surveillance systems with the VioStor NVR and various compatible IP cameras; however, they can alternatively use a Turbo NAS compatible with AXIS Camera Companion, the video management software (VMS) for Axis IP cameras, to create surveillance systems.
Digital Signage Player – iS-2840
The QNAP digital signage player is equipped with its own embedded software, giving users easy content design and control for content placement. The software has scheduled message delivery as well as the flexibility to manage multiple signage players over a network.
The latest version of the Digital Signage Player iS-2840, which supports 4 full HD playbacks concurrently, was demonstrated to show 4K playback capability, combining four screens into one big 4K (2×2) video wall and as well as an all-horizontal (4×1 and 1×4) video wall arrangement. With iSignager software, the iS-2840 allows users to edit 2×2 content with bezel compensation.
QNAP NAS Development Platform
Powered by an open-source Linux kernel, QTS 4.1 is a user-friendly development platform, which allows developers to create various apps and to directly utilize the storage and security features of the Turbo NAS.
