HP Announces Cloud-Managed, SDN-Enabled Unified Wired and Wireless Networking Solutions

HP has announced new cloud-managed software-defined networking (SDN) enabled unified wired and wireless network solutions which helps customers to increase the agility of their network all the while simplifying its management. These new HP solutions are specifically designed to support mobility initiatives for all types of businesses by providing improved mobile end-user experiences at triple the speed. Additionally, HP’s unified wired and wireless network products are combined with SDN, which provide new business opportunities and thus enabling IT professionals to draw business value from the network.

Additionally, HP’s unified wired and wireless network products are combined with SDN, which provide new business opportunities and thus enabling IT professionals to draw business value from the network.


HP 560 802.11ac

The new HP 560 and 517  IEEE 802.11ac wireless access points provide network agility, giving organizations the ability to support the ever-growing number of mobile devices, all the while improving the user experience with speeds three times faster than 802.11n. In addition, the HP 560 access points are OpenFlow-enabled, allowing customers to leverage SDN applications without the need to rip and replace existing infrastructure. To even further help IT organizations, the new HP SDN Roadmap Services create a pragmatic and detailed transition roadmap aligned with their business goals.


HP 870 Appliance

The HP 870 Unified Wired-WLAN Appliance has up to 40 percent higher scalability than its competition and provides reliable application performance for end users by supporting up to 30,000 devices. For midsize to larger enterprises, the HP 850 Unified Wired-WLAN Appliance supports up to 10,000 devices.

HP is also supporting bring your own device (BYOD) initiatives for customers by partnering with Citrix and MobileIron. This partnership plans to offer best-in-class mobile device management (MDM) integration with the HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) platform. In addition, HP Secure BYOD Services and IP Address Management Services, allows employees to be connected and productive within minutes.

Location Aware SDN

The new HP Location Aware SDN application pinpoints any indoor wireless-enabled device with an accuracy of roughly two meters, which is up to five times more accurate than other similar solutions. HP Location Aware is powered by technology developed at and enables a wide range of new context-aware retail, asset management, and security applications. This application will be integrated into the HP Virtual Application Networks (VAN) SDN controller and is designed to help businesses transform wireless LAN infrastructure into revenue-generating assets.

Taking full advantage of big data analytics and Location Aware technology, HP Communications and Media Solutions (CMS) has developed a proof-of-concept application called SmartShopper. It is designed for both retailers and service providers, enabling enterprises to strengthen relationships with their customers and monetize the network and provides real-time, location-based offers to customers’ smartphones. Additionally, with HP’s location- and context-aware Telco Big Data and Analytics technology, organizations have the ability to increase sales by personalizing the shopping experience and gain revenue using targeted promotion of relevant products.
