This Chia Pool supports open source and is managed by a team that has worked together on the TrueNAS project for roughly a decade. TruePool charges 1% for an operator’s fee, with 25% of that supporting the TrueNAS project. So if you’re into Chia and TrueNAS, this is an interesting opportunity to blend two loves together.

As we’ve said, the Chia cryptocurrency is based on proofs of space and time, versus proof of work many other cryptocurrencies are based on. Chia calls itself “green” as it relies on storage (fast SSD storage for plotting and high capacity HDD for farming) versus GPU/CPUs. Basically, anyone with space storage should be able to plot and farm Chia to some degree.

What is TruePool?
Officially launched a couple of weeks ago, TruePool has about 1.18PB currently and is growing. This is with around 210 members currently and is growing as more members join. The estimated time to win for the pool currently sits at 5 days and 18 hours, although that number will change as netspace grows or as the pool size grows.
Chia is also currently available as a container in the official TrueNAS Scale applications repository. This means TrueNAS users have an easy way to leverage their rigs to participate in Chia if they’re so inclined. Chia pools do require new NFT plots, but assuming you’re a storage fan and replotting anyway, it may be worthwhile to give TruePool a look.
