Today Lenovo announced the addition of two new rack servers to its ThinkServer portfolio, the 1U ThinkServer RD350 and the 2U ThinkServer RD450. These new additions are aimed at small to medium businesses that need a balance of performance, capacity, flexibility, and reliability all at a cost effective price point.
Both of the new additions are equipped with up to two 12-core Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 series processors and can be configured with up to 512GB of DDR4 memory via 16 DIMM slots, giving them almost triple the memory of the previous generations. These features aid in delivering critical performance enhancements for running workloads such as scale-out data analytics, virtualized workloads, and compute-intensive applications. Both of the new additions also have built in ECC memory, integrated RAID, and hot-swappable drives, power (80 PLUS Titanium or Platinum-rated), and cooling supplies. The new systems give clients access to a suite of new lifecycle tools that include: server-embedded tools for configuration and deployment, energy management, and power planning. Partner packs for Microsoft and VMware are also available.
The ThinkServer RD350 supports up to 16TB of internal capacity and fits into a 1U from factor taking up limited space. The ThinkServer RD450 has 24 drive bays and its 2.5” configuration leverages Lenovo’s ThinkServer AnyRAID adapters without taking up PCIe slots. Both systems are available with either 3.5” or 2.5” drive configuration options.
Availability and pricing
The ThinkServer RD350 and RD450 are available now starting at $1,249 and $1,499 respectively.
