Today Data Dynamics Inc. announced the release of the latest version of its intelligence-based storage management solution, StorageX 7.5. StorageX is a proven solution, with over ten years of use, which has been optimized for use in heterogeneous storage resources in hybrid and cloud datacenter environments.

According to Gartner, two-thirds of all storage is unstructured data. With this, storage is moving from the traditional (SAN and NAS) to scale-out NAS, Object storage, and Hadoop, with half of all enterprise shifting to a hybrid cloud in the next two years (according to IDC). In order to make this transformation, organizations need an intelligent, automated solution to migrate and manage data across multiple storage silos. StorageX is a software-based management platform that is designed to simplify migration consolidation, and archiving of file data in large, complex, multivendor file storage environments.

The latest update offers new features in the areas of migration, disaster recovery, replication, reporting, and security making StorageX 7.5 a unified storage solution for simplified management of large data assets throughout the information lifecycle. The latest update adds additional functionality to Microsoft DFS: backup and restoration of standalone and domain based DFS roots/metadata, restores and merges namespaces, migration of 2000 to 2008 root. The new version allows Windows-based management of multiple heterogeneous file servers and the new update has replication from one source to multiple targets or from multiple sources to one target. The replication also has flexible scheduling, source and destination settings, and bandwidth throttling.

New features include:

  • Expanded DFS Namespace Automation policies
  • Native NetApp Migration Support for Disaster Recovery and Migration
  • Enhanced Reporting for increased management simplicity
  • New security controls and auditing capabilities
  • Automated Health-Checks

Future updates will focus on OEM integration, SX access control, DFS heath checks, Cloud/Object integration (Amazon S3, EMC ATMOS/Isilon, Azure), and replication agent service model.

Availability and pricing

StorageX 7.5 is available now and starts at $50,000.
