Toshiba has announced new branded storage product offerings at CES 2015, including the TransferJet, which enables fast point-to-point wireless data transfer between PC and mobile devices; FlashAir III Wireless SD Card, which is a storage device that allows users to share their images, videos and files wirelessly; Canvio Connect II Portable Hard Drives, which are a modern looking USB portable that offers all the essential functions as well as scheduled backups and remote access; and the 3TB Canvio Basics, which Toshiba’s simple storage solution and first to market at this capacity.

FlashAir III Wireless SD Card
FlashAir III is the company’s third generation memory card and serves as its own wireless LAN access point, allowing users to share their content wirelessly. It now features enhanced photo sharing and management features, giving users the ability to quickly designate which photos to share and easily manage files from a web browser on a PC.
The FlashAir III Wireless SD Card’s Internet pass-through feature allows users to access the card and Internet, which enables real-time content uploading. In addition, it uses a wireless LAN chip, making it accessible to any wireless capable computers, smartphones or tablets, and can support simultaneous access from up to seven devices. The built-in Wi-Fi access point also allows for transfers without an Internet connection. Toshiba also offers a free FlashAir mobile app for iOS and Android-based devices.
3TB Canvio Basics
The 3TB Canvio Basics portable gives users a massive amount of space with an efficient and easy to use pedigree. Users can connect the device right out of the box by simply connecting it to their PC. The Canvio Basics portable hard drive also supports USB 3.0 for rapid transfer speeds, is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, and is also equipped with a special internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology that is designed to keep consumers' digital files safer against accidental drops.
Canvio Connect II Portable Hard Drive
The Connect II portable hard drives are available in capacities up to 3TB, come with remote access capabilities, have local and cloud backup, and the ability to share and stream content. The new portable drives make backing a complete system (with the ability to customize backups to users’ exact needs and specifications) easy. Users can secure backups with user defined password protection, or cloud storage as well as schedule backups to run automatically. In addition, the Canvio Connect II portable hard drive line is available in five colors: black, white, blue, red and satin gold.
TransferJet Adapters
Toshiba has released the industry’s first TransferJet adapter for iOS devices, including the iPhone and iPad, that is compliant with TransferJet close proximity wireless transfer technology. Toshiba has also announced its 2nd generation USB adapter for Windows and MicroUSB adapter for Android.
TransferJet is a close proximity wireless transfer technology standard promoted by the TransferJet Consortium, which is a new and efficient way to wirelessly share files between PCs, tablets, smartphones and other compatible mobile devices (up to 560Mbps). To transfer files, simply connect a TransferJet adapter to each compatible device, open the TransferJet PC and mobile app, select the files and touch the two adapters together. TransferJet then instantly connects and starts sending data.
TransferJet also radiates very low-power radio waves and thus causes no interference with other wireless systems. As a result, there is no impact on performance even if there are multiple nearby users.
Pricing and Availability
The Toshiba FlashAir III Wireless SD Card will be available for purchase sometime in March, 2015, for $79.99 (16GB) and $99.99 (32GB). The FlashAir III Wireless SD Card is backed by a five-year standard limited warranty.
The 3TB Toshiba Canvio Basics portable hard drive will be available for purchase also in March of this year for $189.99.
The Toshiba Canvio Connect II is slated for a release later this month in 500GB ($99.99), 1TB ($119.99), and 2TB ($199.99). A 3TB model will release later this year.
The TransferJet adapters for compatible iOS, Windows and Android devices will be in March 2015 for $79.99 MSRP.
