Simplivity has introduced a new addition to their OmniCube hyperconverged infrastructure, the OmniCube CN-2200. The CN-2200 is an upgraded replacement for the CN-2000. This new device offers broader scalability, more use cases, and starts at a lower price point.
The OmniCube Hyperconverged platforms are "the industry’s first and only globally-federated and hyperconverged infrastructure solution[s]." They are designed and optimized for the virtual environment. OmniCube platforms are 2U rack mounted solutions that deliver server, storage, and network services that are aimed at replacing cluttered infrastructure. With a complete set of advanced functionality, the OmniCube hyperconverged platforms are built to reduce infrastructure complexity at a lower total cost of ownership.
The CN-2200 comes with several configurations of Intel Ivy Bridge processors (single 8-core, dual 8-core, dual 10-core, dual 12-core) as well as a wider range of memory configurations (128GB, 512GB – 71GB to 455GB usable). There isn't an upgrade with the capacity, but it still runs 5TB to 10TB, depending on deduplication and compression of data. The increase in CPU and memory configurations give the CN-2200 a much broader range of use cases, including VDI.
The CN-2200 gives more scalability at a lower price point while giving high compute and memory needs. It offers an economical hyperconverged infrastructure solution for use in remote office or VDI. For customers that are already running CN-2000, they can run CN-2200 systems in the same vSphere cluster with existing CN-2000 nodes.
